BERRY, Paul Neville

1946 - 2019

Paul Neville Berry was born at Lowestoft, Suffolk in November 1946, son of Neville Berry and his wife Olwyn D. née Butcher, who married at Lowestoft in 1942. Paul graduated in Fine Art from Chelsea School of Art in 1969 and completed his postgraduate studies, also at Chelsea, being awarded the post of Fellow in Fine Art at Cardiff College of Art in 1970. Throughout his time as a practising artist, he was involved in an experimental, conceptual approach to his work adopting different modes of production as appropriate to his ideas. This led to his making installations, performances, 3D constructions, word pieces, photographic pieces, paintings, drawings and prints and he liked to work concurrently on several projects. While his ideas may have some underlying connections, they often used different mediums and processes which reflects the artistís interest in exploring both traditional artforms and innovative technologies and materials. His work has been shown in London, Birmingham, Cleveland, Chichester, Nottingham, Hamburg, Paris, and Sydney and elsewhere. He married at Lowestoft in 1968 Vivian J. Rivett (1946-). Paul Neville Berry died in London on 15 April 2019.
