GARRETT, George Henry

1838 - 1892

George Henry Garrett, was born at Victoria Terrace, 1 Woodbridge Road, Ipswich on 30 June, and baptised at St Stephen's church, Ipswich on 4 August 1838, eldest child of Garrett Garrett (1808-23 June 1890), a steel bar merchant, and his wife Elizabeth Power née Stephenson, who married at Ipswich in 1837. In 1861, a 22 year old artist, living at 172 Woodbridge Road, Ipswich with his parents, 52 year old Garrett and 42 year old Elizabeth, with ten siblings, all born in Ipswich. He married at Shrewsbury, Shropshire in 1866, Fanny Boucher and in 1881, a 42 year old photographic artist, living at Montague House, Atcham, Shrewsbury with his 40 year old wife Fanny, and their six children, Elizabeth 13, Emmaline 12, Kate 10, Millicent 9, Geoffrey 5 and Rowland 1, all born at Shrewsbury. Being described as an artist, he died at Fern Villa, Oak Street, Belle View, Shrewsbury on 26 November 1892, aged 54, leaving a widow.
