ADAMS, Edward

1827 - 1903

Edward, sometimes Edwin Adams, was born at Ashbocking, Suffolk on 5 February 1827, son of Edward Adams, a landed proprietor, and his wife Sarah née Ringe. In 1851, young Edward was a 24-year-old silk mercer, living at Brown Street, Old Newton, Suffolk with his widowed father and siblings Jane 29 and Samuel 25, with his father's 81-year-old mother-in-law, Mary Ringe. Edward married at Old Newton in 1851, Emma Turner and they went to live at Burton Crescent, now renamed Cartwright Gardens, Bloomsbury in St Pancras London and in 1861, a linen draper living at 42 Charles Street, now called Charlesworth Street, Islington, London with three sons, F. Col 8, Arthur Burton Webster 7 and Edward F. 4 and daughter Anna Mary 6, but by 1871 was living at 12 Dagmar Road, Hackney, London. In 1891, is noted as Edwin Adams, a 64-year-old widower, 'artist in watercolours', living at Westleigh House, 52 London Road, Ipswich with his 69-year-old widowed sister Isabella Jane Drake, née Adams, and his unmarried 64-year-old brother-in-law, Samuel Ringe, both born at Rendlesham, Suffolk. Edward Adams died at Ipswich in 1903. His son Arthur Burton Webster Adams (11 September 1853-28 December 1897) married at Fulham in 1897, Suffolk born Alice Esther Packard 1860-1945 who was 3rd cousin to Sir Edward Packard.
