MacDONALD, Jessie

Jessie MacDonald, was born at St Pancras, London on 3 September 1883, daughter of Thomas MacDonald 1846-28 July 1927), a banknote engraver, and his wife Mary C.. Her father was the founder of the famous London firm of Thomas MacDonald & Son (Engravers) Ltd., banknote engravers. In 1901, a 17 year old, living at 6 Barnsbury Terrace, Islington with her parents, 52 year old Thomas, born Carlisle, Cumberland, 56 year old Mary, born Scotland, and sibling brother Robert 21, born Islington, also a banknote engraver. In 1911, a 27 year old, living at Rose Bank, Dacre, Penrith, Cumberland with her 64 year old mother Mary, born at Hamilton, Scotland, her father was absent. In 1939, an invalid artist, living at The Green, Monk Soham, Suffolk with Mary Du Pontet [q.v.]. She died at Dartford, Kent in 1958, she was unmarried.
