DU PONTET, Mary Stebbing
Mary Stebbing Du Pontet was born at Hillside, Harrow-on-the-Hill, Middlesex on 30 June 1909, second child of Clement Adolphe Auguste Du Pontet (1875-12 August 1950), assistant master at Harrow School, and his wife Rachel Irene Stebbing (1877-17 June 1913), younger daughter of William Stebbing of Frith Park, Walton-on-the-Hill, who married at St Mary's Church, Bryanston Square, London on 8 April 1905. Mary was educated at Orley Farm School, Harrow, Middlesex and in 1911, her father Clement kept a school at Hillside, Peterboro Hill, Harrow-on-the-Hill, Middlesex, with with six boarding pupils. In 1939, Mary was an 'artist', living at The Green, Monk Soham, Suffolk with another artist Jessie MacDonald and she exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Mary Stebbing Du Pontet died at 89 Deodar Road, Putney, London on 6 November 1997, she was unmarried.
