MANNERS-SUTTON, Lady Jane
As Lady Jane Butler, she was born on 1 August 1779, daughter of James Butler, 9th Baron Cahir (died July 1788) and his wife Sarah née Nichols. Jane married, as his second wife, at Baron's Court, the residence of the Marquis of Abercorn in County Tyrone, on 28 October 1815, the 1st Baron Manners (14 February 1756-31 May 1842) of Foston, co. Lincolnshire. From about 1827 they lived at The Grove, Yoxford, Suffolk but later moved to Fornham Hall, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk. As Lady Manners of Yoxford she was an art pupil of Henry Bright sometime during his London period 1836-1856. Lady Jane Manners died at Fornham Hall on 2 November 1846. The title passed to their son John Thomas Manners-Sutton, 2nd Baron Manners of Foston (17 August 1818-14 November 1864).
