REDGRAVE, Mary
Mary Redgrave was born at Lowestoft, Suffolk on 9 November 1761, daughter of John Redgrave and his first wife Mary née Lain (1737-1763), who married at Lowestoft on 26 May 1766. Her employment at a decorator at the Lowestoft Porcelain Works was as Mary Redgrave, before her marriage in 1785, to John Liffen. There is a Lowestoft tablet for Mary bearing the date of her birth, which was thought to have been painted by Robert Allen. Her niece Ann Rounce confirmed that her aunt 'used to decorate the china...and often used to see her paint'. Mary Liffen was buried at Lowestoft St Margaret's Church on 6 May 1795, aged 33.
