JOSSELYN, Rose
Rose Josselyn was born at Ipswich on 12 February 1839, and baptised at St Mary-le-Tower Church, Ipswich two days later, third daughter of George Josselyn (1 January 1807-27 May 1888), a solicitor, and his wife Elizabeth Browne Bell (31 May 1806-14 December 1881), only daughter of Capt. Robert Scarlet Browne Bell of the East India Company, who married at St Nicholas Church, Kings Lynn, Norfolk on 9 February 1931, Rose was a sister to Catherine Emily Josselyn. Rose studied at the Ipswich School of Art and won prizes for her model, freehand and perspective in 1861. A member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1883-1885 from Sproughton, Suffolk but although listed as an exhibitor none of works are noted. Rose Josselyn died at Ipswich on 20 November 1910, aged 71, she was unmarried.
