FONNEREAU, Catherine Claudine
Catherine Claudine Fonnereau was born at Ipswich on 29 February 1868 and baptised at St Margarets church, Ipswich on 3 April 1868, one of the eleven children of Thomas Neale Fonnereau (21 March 1841-11 October 1890), of Christchurch, Ipswich, and his wife Blanche Editha Pearse (7 March 1840-25 November 1885), youngest daughter of Revd George Pearse, who married at Martham, Norfolk on 21 May 1861. As Catherine C. Fonnereau, she studied at the Ipswich School of Science and Art, passing her freehand examinations in 1886. As Miss Fonnereau, she exhibited from 12 Shelley Road, Worthing, Sussex at the Ipswich Fine Art Club in 1923, three oil paintings 'Beech Trees', 'The Pond, Bernchal, Normandy' and 'A Barn in Normandy'. Catherine was still of 12 Shelley Road, Worthing when she died at Groombridge Nursing Home, Worthing on 21 December 1936, she was unmarried and left her effects to her unmarried sister Phoebe Verena Fonnereau (1869-1944). She is sometimes known as Katherine Claudine.
