BROWN, Gerald
Gerald Frank Brown was born at Bentley, near Ipswich in 1904, son of Frank Brown, architect, and his wife Annie Agnes Smythe, only daughter of artist Thomas Smythe, who married at St Peter's Church, Ipswich on 17 October 1889. In 1911, Gerald was a 7-year-old, living at Heathfield, Freehold Road, Ipswich with his parents, 52-year-old Francis and 41-year-old Annie, with his six siblings, Mildred Esther 20, Phyllis Mary 15, Frances Victoria 13, born at Ipswich with Vera Jermyn 12, Wilfred Jermyn 10 and Gwendoline Angela 4, born at Bentley, near Ipswich. Gerald exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from 'Aysgarth', Lattice Barn, Woodbridge Road, Ipswich in 1927, an oil painting 'The Highway'. Gerald Frank Brown died in the Deben district of Suffolk in 1935, he was unmarried. He signed his works 'Gerald Brown'.
