SALMON, Constance Mary
Constance Mary Salmon was born at Guildhall Street, Bury St Edmund's on 12 November 1856, daughter of William Salmon (1816-10 October 1892), solicitor & town clerk, and his wife Hannah Newman (1821-1898), second daughter of Robert Newman, landlord of the King's Head Commercial Inn, Beccles, who married at Beccles Parish Church, Suffolk on 27 December 1842. As Miss Salmon she exhibited at the Bury St Edmund's Fine Art Society in 1881 'On the Yare, near Acle'. She married at St Mary's Church, Bury St Edmund's on 4 September 1883, Revd Edwin Westall Carpenter (1855-9 February 1937), vicar of Bobbing, Kent and in 1891, a 34-year-old, living at Churchfields, Margate, Kent with her 35-year-old husband Edwin and their 6-year-old daughter Margaret, born at Bobbing, Kent and they later moved to Thorpe Vicarage, Chertsey, Surrey. Her husband, as Edward, died at Holmdale, Stoke-by-Clare, Suffolk on 9 February 1937 and in 1939, Constance was a widow, living at The Street, Stoke-by-Clare. Constance Mary Carpenter died at Holmdale, Stoke-by-Clare on 1 May 1942, aged 85.
