COLVILLE, Eleanor
Eleanor Mary Anne Augusta Colville was born at Great Livermere, Suffolk on 7 June 1840, eldest child of Revd Augustus Asgill Colville (1794-27 June 1865), rector of Great and Little Livermere, Bury St Edmund's from 1832, and his second wife Mary Anne Hemings (1804-28 June 1882), daughter of the late J. Hemings, Esq., who married in Paris on 10 August 1839. Augustus married his first wife Maria Broderip, fourth daughter of the late Edmund Broderip of Wells, Somerset, at Bathgate, Bath on 9 November 1830, Maria died at Livermere on 15 January 1835 and the following day their 5-day old infant son Augustus Broderip Colville died, they had other issue. As Miss E. Colville, in 1883 she won the first prize of two guineas at the Bury St Edmund's Fine Art Society exhibition for her watercolour 'Japanese Anemones', with her 'Fruit' and 'On Como' being highly commended, and at the Bury & Suffolk Fine Art exhibition in 1887 her watercolour was third best in show. She married St Mary Magdalen's Paddington on 18 April 1888, Revd Herbert Coke Fowler (3 October 1851-18 September 1928), then rector of Troston, Suffolk and in 1891 her husband was appointed rector of Norton-juxta-Twycross, Leicester. In 1901, she and her 49-year-old husband, were living at The Rectory, Turnpike Road, Norton-juxta-Twycross, Market Bosworth, Leicestershire and by 1911 they had moved to The Rectory, Dunton Winslow, Dunton Hoggeston, Buckinghamshire. Eleanor Mary Anne Augusta Fowler died at Bedford House, Malvern, Worcestershire on 23 December 1923, aged 84, leaving no issue.
