ABLITT, Edward
Edward Ablitt was born at Ipswich on 17 February 1809 and baptised at St Lawrence Church, Ipswich on 24 February 1809, son of Edward Ablitt (1779-1828) and his wife Elizabeth née Norris, who married at St Lawrence Church on 16 October 1803. An Ipswich Freeman and a founder member of the Ipswich Society of Professional & Amateur Artists in 1832, where he was tutored by Henry Davy. In 1851, an unmarried 42-year-old 'fund holder & house proprietor', lodging at Carr Street, Ipswich, the home of 57-year-old widower William Haxell, a master dyer. Edward exhibited at the 4th exhibition of the Suffolk Fine Arts Association in 1853. Edward Ablitt died of epilepsy at Ipswich on 2 November 1866, aged 57.
