VINING, Dr Roy MacDona
Roy MacDona Vining was born at Richmond, Surrey on 19 December 1923, son of Kenneth Julian Vining (14 February 1882-18 January 1968), a railway signalman, and his wife Mabel Kathleen née Townend (1888-7 January 1935), who married at St John's Church, West Ealing, Middlesex on 7 October 1920 and in 1939, Kenneth was a widower living at 17 Linkway, Richmond. Roy was educated at Kings College School, Wimbledon and after serving in the Royal Artillery during the Second World War trained in Medicine at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, graduating in 1953. He married at Marylebone, London in 1949, Irene Mary Vining née Brookland, and in 1958 they settled in Lowestoft, Suffolk, where he worked as a GP on Marine Parade for 30 years. A member and exhibitor at the Norfolk & Norwich Art Circle which he had helped to revive and where his wife was secretary. He lived at Heath Road, St Olaves, Herringfleet, Suffolk before moving to Norwich in 2006. Roy MacDona Vining died in the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital on 10 November 2013.
