PRESTON, Hilda Amëe
Hilda Amëe Preston was born at North End House, Yarmouth Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk on 13 June 1883, second child of Benjamin Preston (1845-1 June 1914), a brewer, and his wife Mary Jane (Minnie) Denny (1858-), second daughter of Revd Richard Cooke Denny of the Manor House, Bergh Apton, Norfolk who married at Bergh Apton on 15 January 1880. In 1891, Hilda was an 8-year-old, living at North End House with her parents, 44-year-old Benjamin and 32-year-old Mary, with her sibling sister Constance 9. In 1911, Hilda was a 26-year-old on 'private means', on a visit to 69-year-old spinster Caroline Jane Nutt at 19 Corton Road, Lowestoft and in 1921 a visitor at Filey House, Cliff Road, Sheringham, Norfolk, the home of Christopher Brown Cooper, a fisherman, and his family. A member and exhibitor at the Norfolk & Norwich Art Circle from Lowestoft 1914-1923. In 1939, living on own means, at The Manor, Thurton, Loddon, Norfolk. Hilda Amëe Preston died at 19 Cleveland Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk on 4 February 1974, she was unmarried.
