David J. Smeaden, was born at West Ham, Essex in 1948, son of Ernest Edwin Smeaden (1908-1991) and his wife Ethel Maud née Hardy (1911-1985), who married at West Ham in 1932. David Smeaden, although a mainly self-taught artist, has been drawing and painting all his life. An artist, originally living at 64 Vernon Road, London but now residing in Lavenham, Suffolk where he is on the committee of the Lavenham Art Society. His subjects include Suffolk architecture and landscapes with its many timber framed buildings, which lend themselves to David's style of painting and, with his particular love of architecture, he works in ink, with either a watercolour or acrylic wash, or just pure acrylic. His landscapes are usually in pure acrylic in a looser impressionistic style whereas the majority of his architectural paintings are ink and wash. David has exhibited in numerous exhibitions and his paintings can be found in London, East Anglia, Jersey, Australia and Japan and a number of his paintings have been featured on greetings cards and has completed many commissions. Many of David's paintings and prints are for sale and he is always open to commissions on his website.
