SMEADEN, David
David John Smeaden was born at Stratford, London in 1948, son of Ernest Edwin Smeaden (16 October 1908-1991), a cable layer, and his wife Ethel Maud née Hardy (18 April 1911-1985), who married at All Saints Church, West Ham on 20 February 1932. David Smeaden, a self-taught artist, has been drawing and painting all his life. An artist, originally living at 64 Vernon Road, Stratford, London but now residing at Bears Lane, Lavenham, Suffolk where he is on the committee of the Lavenham Art Society. His subjects include Suffolk architecture and landscapes with its many timber-framed buildings, which lend themselves to David's style of painting and, with his love of architecture, he works in ink, with either a watercolour or acrylic wash, or just pure acrylic. His landscapes are usually in pure acrylic in a looser impressionistic style whereas most of his architectural paintings are ink and wash. David has exhibited in numerous exhibitions and his paintings can be found in London, East Anglia, Jersey, Australia, and Japan and several of his paintings have been featured on greetings cards and has completed many commissions. Many of David's paintings and prints are for sale and he is always open to commissions on his website.
