CONVERY, Breige
Breige M. Convery was born in Northern Ireland around 1957 and lived in Northern Island until 1984 when she moved to England to train as a midwife. Breige married at Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk in 1990, Christopher J. Lucas, but continues to paint under the name of Breige Convery and lives at 3 Ashfield Road, Norton, Bury St Edmund's. Breige studied at New University of Ulster gaining a B.Sc. (hons), Nursing Studies; South Bank Polytechnic, PG Diploma (Distinction), Health Education; Norwich School of Art, B.A. (hons), Visual Studies and at Coventry University, PG Certificate, Conflict Resolution Studies. She worked for East Suffolk Community Mental Health Services (NHS) Trust 1992-1994; Suffolk Carers 1994-1997; Health Promotion Officer with Suffolk Health 1997-2004. A professional artist 2003-2008, her artist’s portfolio includes artist-in-residence to Taxi Gallery, a community-based art project in Cambridge; Design and management of a lottery funded community sound installation created with residents; Productions for community radio and voluntary roles at Smiths Row Art Gallery, Bury St Edmund's. She is currently (2020) Policy Officer at Mid-Suffolk District Council, based at Needham Market, Suffolk. In her work as an artist, she has been involved in extensive and wide-ranging research and the development of ideas leading to the production and exhibition of artworks in a range of media for both public spaces and private collections. Breige has exhibited at Suffolk Showcase at Bury St Edmund's Art Gallery and at Church Walks, Bury St Edmund's.
