Hayley Lock

Hayley Jean Lock was born at Ipswich on 19 July 1966, daughter of Colin C. Lock and his wife Janice Mary née Archer, of Clint Farm, Eye, Suffolk who married at Ipswich in 1965. Hayley graduated B.A. (hons) Fine Art Textiles from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 1989, Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Art & Design from City College Norwich in 2003 and then studied at the University of Essex 2010-2012 gaining a Master's (with distinction) in Contemporary Art & Professional Practice and in 2016 an HEA Fellowship, Higher Education Academy, York. A practising artist in drawing, collage, sculpture, sound, and film was also a lecturer at Suffolk New College. Hayley appropriates, re imagine and mirror back a pseudo fantastical world where visions are commonplace and imagination is rife, revealing a shadowy world in perpetual crisis. Hayley has worked with the form of digital images, film, sound, performance, and the written word leading to public performances. She has had five solo shows spread across the UK during 2011-2012 as part of her project and has exhibited both nationally and internationally with solo shows at Minories Gallery in Essex; Test Space at Spike Island, Bristol and Transition Gallery, 110 Lauriston Road in London and group exhibitions including Jugg Art Foundation, Ipswich; Senate House Library, University of London; NN Contemporary, Schema Projects in Brooklyn, New York and Galerie Antje Wachs, Berlin and elsewhere. She had a home at Eye, Suffolk but also works in London.
