LISHMAN, Marian
Marian Jacqueline Lishman was born at Redhill, Surrey in 1967, daughter of David John Lishman and his wife Vivien née Grant who married at Redhill in 1963. Marian was educated at St Bede's School, Redhill 1982-1986 and studied at Hull University 1986-1989 obtaining a B.Sc. in mathematics. Marian worked firstly as a Pensions Administrator/Pensions Manager then transferred to IT and worked as a Developer using SharePoint. Although a mostly self-taught artist, Marian took classes in different art mediums and types of painting until settling on abstract painting and, relocating to Dubai in December 2004, started creating abstract work in oils and in 2005 began selling these at the first Artisans of the Emirates market. Since 2006 she has worked as a full-time professional artist, living in both Ipswich and Dubai, supplying her work to individuals, interior designers, and hotels. Her mostly abstract artwork is the use of bold colours and using textures but, with different fluidity of paint, creates unique patterns and has been using resin as a finishing product for her paintings which gives them an extra dimension and brings out their vibrant colours. Marian has exhibited her modern works in the UK, Dubai and in Barcelona and they can be found in countries from Japan to the United States. An associate member of Suffolk Open Studios from a studio in her garden in 49 Cliff Lane, Ipswich and is a member of the Felixstowe Art Group and the Ipswich Arts Association, the Ipswich Art Society and, together with her mother, regularly exhibits at Craft House Woodbridge, Art on the Prom and at the gallery formerly on Bent Hill, Felixstowe, Suffolk now at 22 Hamilton Road, Felixstowe.
