HAMMOND, Margaretta Ruth

1864 - 1895

Margaretta Ruth Hammond, was baptised at St Mary’s church, Newmarket on 1 June 1864, youngest of the five children of Charles Eaton Hammond [q.v.] and his wife Emily Law née Wilson [Hammond q.v.]. A watercolour landscape artist and a member and exhibitor at Ipswich Fine Art Club 1883-1890, who, as Miss C Eaton Hammond, exhibited from The Bank, Newmarket, Suffolk in 1883 a watercolour 'In Sherwood Forest' and in 1885 'Portrait of Miss Mary Allen, aged 76', she exhibited a futher three works 1887-1890 including ‘Lincoln Minster’ and 'St Mary’s Church, Beverley’ (1890). She was buried at Newmarket on 25 April 1895, aged 31, she was unmarried. Her sister was Emily Blanche Hammond [q.v.]
