HAMMOND, Emily Law

1827 - 1878

As Emily Law Wilson, she was born at Shepton Mallet, Somerset 19 November 1827 and baptised on 3 January 1828, second daughter of Revd Plumpton Wilson (1800-1876), the local rector and later rector of Thorpe Arnold, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, and his wife Margaretta née Law (1808-1886), who married at Wellingborough, Northamptonshire on 1 July 1825. Emily married at Thorpe Arnold, Leicestershire on 1 July 1847, Charles Eaton Hammond and they had five children, all born at Newmarket including Emily Blanche Hammond and Margaretta Ruth Hammond. A member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1875-1876 but does not seem to have exhibited. Emily Law Hammond died at Newmarket on 19 July 1878, aged 50.
