BROWNE, Wilhelm Johnston
Wilhelm Johnston Browne was born at Barnby, Suffolk on 26 July 1901, only child of William Browne, a market gardener, and his wife Mary Jane. In 1911, Wilhelm was a 9-year-old living at Marsh Lane, North Cove, Suffolk with his 43-year-old father and 44-year-old mother, both born in North Suffolk. He registered with the Teacher's Registration Council Registers from Oulton Broad, Suffolk 1922-1931. He married at Kettering, Northamptonshire in 1929, Grace Matilda Underwood (1909-1994). Secretary of the Beccles Society of Artists and 'Master Painter' 1983-1986 although he is not listed as an exhibitor. Wilhelm Johnston Browne died at 'Cockenzie', 24 Ashmans Road, Beccles on 2 September 1986. He was sometimes known as Brown or Johnston Browne.
