SWAFFER, Peter
Peter Whitely Swaffer was born in June 1949, son of Peter Norman Swaffer (3 August 1920-1984) and his wife Alice Elizabeth née Neale (1924-25 May 2012), who married at Woolwich, London on 23 March 1946. Peter was educated at Xaverian Roman Catholic College, Manchester 1960-1964 and studied at Eastbourne School of Arts and Crafts 1966-1969, gaining a Graphic Design Certificate followed by studies at Brighton College of Art 1969-1970 graduating with a distinction. He then had a career in advertising and design, including as art director at J. Walter Thompson and a director of SB Designs Ltd. He married at Brighton in 1984, Sarah L. Riley and around 2010, after moving from Brighton to Suffolk, Peter became a professional artist working in both watercolour and oils also producing black and white drawings in pen and charcoal. He then added to his creative skills by adding writing, his first venture was an illustrated children’s book 'Tommy'. A member of Mellis Arts and now lives at Wilverley House, Earlsford Road, Mellis, Eye, Suffolk with his wife Sarah.
