HOLMES, Edgar George
Edgar George Holmes was born at Beccles, Suffolk on 10 August 1915, youngest son of Thomas William Holmes (4 March 1872-31 May 1954), a printer compositor, and his wife Edith Emma née Harvey (19 October 1873-1971) and in 1939 they were living at 84 Denmark Road, Beccles, Suffolk. Edgar married at Wainford, Essex in 1938, Caroline Joyce Blaza (4 February 1917-2011), who was born at Loddon, Norfolk, and in 1939, Edgar was a married printer's machine minder, living at 89 Denmark Road, Beccles, Suffolk with his wife. Edgar served in the Parachute Regiment during the Second World War being taken prisoner in Italy in 1943 and imprisoned at Stalag IV, C, Wistritz, Southern Germany being released on VE Day. A member and exhibitor at the Beccles Society of Artists 1977-1990. Edgar George Holmes died at his home at 28 Fairfax Court, Beccles on 13 March 2002, aged 86 and buried in Beccles Cemetery.
