Jayne Pope

Jayne L. Pope was born around 1957. She studied at Carmarthen College of Art, Wales 1974-1975 for her Foundation Certificate; Newport College of Art, Wales 1975-1978 for a B.A. (hons) Graphic Design and Book Illustration. She left college in the late seventies and worked as a graphic designer and studied life painting at Richmond Adult College, London 1985-1987 before going to live in Crete, where she set up a studio and travelled to other Greek islands also visiting Egypt, Turkey, Kenya, and Tanzania 1987-1993, with some paintings made during these travels being purchased by private collectors. She exhibited at Academy House, Central London; Neal Street Gallery; Fisher Gallery; Suzzane Ruggles Gallery and Cooling Galleries, Cork Street 1990-1994. She then obtained a position as lecturer of still life painting at Harlow College, Essex and later taught still life painting at Wanstead Adult College, London 1996-2010. In 2010 she moved to Suffolk, painting full-time as a landscape painter with some still life interest. Jayne paints painted portraits, still life, life painting and murals to commission and works on gilding and many specialist decorations for interior designers. Her Suffolk studio is set amongst the sweeping agricultural fields with sheep and majestic trees in Constable country when landscape became her obsession. The main aim in her paintings is to create great composition, great colours, interesting and varied brushwork with the finished work looking unlaboured. She is a member of Suffolk Open Studios from Beechwood, Lady's Green, Ousden, near Newmarket, Suffolk.
