NELSON, George Charles
George Charles Nelson was born at 19 Myrtle Grove, Colchester, Essex on 4 September 1901 and baptised at St Botolph's Church, Colchester on 22 June 1902, son of Scottish born John Nelson, a butcher, and his wife Emma Maria née Plumb, who married at Colchester in 1901. George's 32-year-old mother died at Colchester in 1905 and in 1910, he was admitted to Bungay Boys School when his [grand]father's name is given as Charles Plumb, who in 1901 kept the 'Greyhound' in Upper Olland Street, Bungay, Suffolk and with whom 10 year Charles was living in 1911, being described as grandchild together with another Colchester born grandchild, 8 year old Cissy (Eleanor Rose) Nelson, who was born on 3 March 1903. In 1921 his grandfather, grandmother and sister Rose were living at 4 Webster Street, Bungay but George is not noted. A member and exhibitor at the Beccles Society of Artists 1977-1988. George Charles Nelson died in the Waveney district of Suffolk in 1988.
