Lindsay Mayhew

As Lindsay Ann Hutchinson, she was born in Lancashire in 1963, daughter of Dennis Hutchinson (1929-19 March 2008) and his wife Barbara née Graham (7 July 1938-9 January 2005), who married at Preston, Lancashire in 1960 and Lindsay spent her childhood in rural Lancashire and Cumbria. Lindsay studied textile design at Goldsmiths College in London and had a career within the industry spanning 25 years. Her inspiration is primarily botanical art and, with the development of modern technology, has been able to fuse the painting qualities of her studies with printed textiles. This could be her starting point for a repeat pattern that are used to create beautiful silk scarves and linen cushions, images for greeting cards and giclée prints or original watercolour paintings. She married at Kendal in 1998, Simon C. Maynard and now works under the name of Lindsay Maynard. In 2001, together with her family, they moved to rural Herefordshire and then to rural Suffolk where, with an abundance of flora and fauna from woodland walks to hedgerows and formal gardens, she realises in her paintings and products. A former member of Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at Brooklands, Duke Street, Hintlesham, Ipswich. She has exhibited at Art Unequalled at the Athenaeum in Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk; Burghley Game and Country Fair, Stamford, Lincolnshire; Orford Craft Centre, Front Street, Orford, Woodbridge, Suffolk; Country Landowners Game Fair, Blenheim Palace and elsewhere.
