GENLLOUD, Colin
Colin B. Genlloud was born at Hendon, Middlesex in 1941, son of Lionel William George Genlloud (9 July 1900-1976), a merchant seaman, and his wife Nancy Saville née Baines (15 March 1907-13 February 1991), who married at Dewsbury, Yorkshire in 1930. In 1939, Nancy was living at 50 Woodhall Gate, Harrow, Middlesex with an unmarried sister, Mary Lizzie Baines (born 4 August 1889). Colin studied at Bath Academy of Art in Corsham and taught in Secondary schools in Yorkshire and Norfolk including an art teacher at Minsthorpe High School, South Elmsall, Wakefield, where he met his future wife Philomena J. O'Leary, and they married at Hemsworth, South Yorkshire in 1970, their daughter Laura is a photographer. They lived at Bungay, Suffolk before moving to The Straw Bale Studio, Oaklands, Wash Lane, Wissett, Halesworth, Suffolk. Colin is an artist in batik, collage, drawing, mixed media, oil, pastel and watercolour, his work involved the gradual process of layering colour to represent aspects of buildings in strongly contrasted light conditions he also worked with watercolour and inks to produce paintings involving wax resist and batik techniques.
