CROMPTON, Holly
Holly Jo Crompton was born at Leicester in 1974, daughter of Ian A. Crompton and his wife Joy S. née Punshon, who married at Leicester in 1971. Holly studied Fine Art at Bath Spa University 1992-1994, gaining a B.A. Fine Art, Sculpture and at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford 1999-2001 for her B.th, Theology. Holly was a Church of England curate at St Hugh's Lewsey, Luton 2001-2004, and married at Norwich in 2004, Revd Simon Crompton-Battersby, chaplain at Culford School, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk, and she paints under the name of Holly Crompton. School chaplain at Bedgebury School, Goudhurst, Kent 2006-2007 and at Bennett Memorial Diocesan School, Tunbridge Wells, 2004-2008. She lives and works in Culford, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk, her paintings are memories and real places, myths and fables, land, sea, and sky. A fascination with stories and folklore or ghostly sightings of lost or mythical dogs, results in the reoccurrence of a familiar white dog running wild in lonely landscapes under brooding skies. She has exhibited in galleries in East Anglia including Buckenham Galleries, Southwold and at Wingfield Barns, Suffolk and sometimes joins in with the Suffolk Open Studios.
