Frances Beasley

As Frances M. Keay, she was born in Surrey in 1947, daughter of Thomas C. Keay and his wife Margaret née Watkins, who married at Dartford, Kent in 1939. Frances married at Midhurst, Surrey in 1972, Nicholas Beasley and paints under the name of Frances Beasley. Frances studied at Manchester Metropolitan University gaining a B.A. (hons) in English and History of Art, then qualified in teaching art, with a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) awarded from Southampton Solent University and later furthered her art training at Anglia Ruskin University. Frances has worked in secondary schools for most of the time in Suffolk. She works in oil, watercolour, inks, and oil pastel and latterly has branched out into lino printing with some textile work, her subject matter is based upon observation of the natural world and reflects her love of abstract patterns coupled with bright colours and sometimes the written word. She lives and works from her studio at Easter Barn, Mellis Common, Eye, Suffolk. A member of the Eye Arts Guild and has exhibited in Bury St Edmund's; Ware; Norwich; Harleston; Diss; Syleham Church; and with Suffolk Open Studios and, since their inception, with Waveney Springs Art Collective and Mellis Arts.
