BIRDY, Mandeep

Mandeep Birdy was born at Birmingham in 1982, daughter of Kapur Chand Birdy (March 1953-) and his wife Jurjit K. née Bodhan, who married at Nottingham in 1975. Raised in the Suffolk seaside resort of Felixstowe where she was educated at Deben High School and studied at Suffolk College for her Business and Technology Education Council Diploma in Art and Design and at the University of Brighton, in Critical Fine Art Practice. An art teacher, community project worker and an artist. Mandeep's recent artwork includes imagery inspired by the iconic sculptures of India and full of subjects such as truth, strength, compassion, benevolence, wisdom, competence, power, and courage. Her work is often mixed media, rich in texture and depth and she endeavours to continuously evolve her ability and figurative style. Mandeep has founded an innovative educational system for young artists with regular workshops and private tuition, with children gaining the experience of being productive and better skilled with their creativity. She has her studio at 11a Sunray Avenue, Felixstowe and has exhibited at Suffolk Open Studios; Studio Bushfire, 163 Hamilton Road, Felixstowe and at Cafe Bencotto, 128 Hamilton Road, Felixstowe.
