ABEL, Doreen
Doreen C. Abel was born in Lewisham district of London in 1949, daughter of William George Abel and his wife Irene née Mills (1913-1952). Doreen moved to Suffolk in the mid 1990s to concentrate on painting and drawing, with inspiration coming from the Suffolk coastline, its sea, shores, and pebbles. Doreen's favourite media is pastel but has also been using acrylics. She had her studio at Oak Cottage, Low Green Cottages, Sotterley, Beccles, Suffolk where, together with Ian Mckenzie, ran Abel Art Gallery at the Raveningham Centre, Beccles Road, Raveningham on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. More recently they have moved to 22 Brickfields, Lowestoft, Suffolk where Doreen was a member of the Lowestoft Art Group. She exhibited with the Ferini Art Gallery, Pakefield. Doreen now works from St Germans Place, London.
