FITT, Rodney Arthur
Rodney Arthur Fitt was born at Downham Market, Norfolk in 1940, son of Robert William Fitt (27 August 1916-2001) and his wife Alice Winifred née Warner (5 January 1915-12 April 2003), who married at Wimbotsham Parish Church, Downham Market on 24 June 1939. Rodney has always lived in the countryside and his paintings are based upon his observations of birds and animals in the country. He worked in stone and in wood, in sizes ranging from small carvings of a few inches high to large blocks of Portland stone up to half a ton and have been sold for both interior and exterior display. Rodney also painted portraits and landscapes from his studio at 44 Meadow Cottages, Iken, near Woodbridge. He exhibited at the Halesworth Gallery in Suffolk. Rodney Arthur Fitt died at Norwich on 28 May 1998.
