MAY, Cynthia
As Cynthia Margaret Payne, she was born in Ipswich on 29 October 1928, daughter of Ernest Albert Payne (31 January 1895-5 September 1987), a railway engine driver, and his wife Muriel Janet née McDonald/Raymer (27 June 1896-1981), who married at Ipswich in 1920 and in 1939 were living at West View, Hadleigh Road, Ipswich. Cynthia was educated at Felixstowe County Grammar School. She was briefly married to Kenyon May in the 1960s, and later married at Eye, Suffolk in 1992, John Loton Ridger but continued to paint under the name of Cynthia May. Cynthia exhibited at the Ipswich Art Society from Dove Yard, Tacon Close, Eye, Suffolk in 1997, three items 'Lemon and Limes', 'The Olive Grove' and 'Dolls' and she was also a member and exhibitor at the Eye Arts Guild from 2013.
