POVALL, Steven
Steven Povall was born at Runcorn, Cheshire in June 1949, only child of Frederick Povall and his wife Kathleen M. née Walker, who married at Northwich, Cheshire in 1948. Steven was educated at Sir John Deane's Grammar School, Northwich and at the Royal Dental Hospital School in London and in 1973 graduated with a first-class degree in dental surgery. Steven married at Cambridge in 1981, Cheryl J. Trundley (born 1957). A dentist by profession, he began to integrate painting and printmaking with the ‘day job’ and started drawing and painting birds from life. Exhibiting in South-East England, being elected a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) in 1991. He later experimented and developed the possibilities of printmaking using print-made marks and textures, and use of collage, reassembling into unique print-assemblages. He exhibited at the Ipswich Art Society from Springers, 3 Joes Road, Cornard Tye, Sudbury, Suffolk in 1990 'Dunlin', he also exhibited at the Bircham Gallery in Norfolk. He later lived at The Old Croft, High Street, Bures, Suffolk.
