ALEXANDER, Frances Emma
As Frances Emma Bryan, she was born at Hampstead, London on 8 November 1875. In 1881, a 6-year-old boarder student at 6 Tresta Street, Toxteth Park, Liverpool, the home of Thomas Phillips, a shipwright, and his family. She married at Hampstead Parish Church on 25 November 1898, Philip Frederick Alexander and in 1901 she was living at 28 Church Row, Hampstead with her 36-year-old husband, a schoolmaster. In 1911, living at Far End, Mill Field Road, Walberswick, Suffolk with her husband, now an artist in metal, and their two children Margaret 8, who was born at Hampstead and Catharine Whalley Alexander 6, who was born at Mundesley, Norfolk. As Mrs F. E. Alexander, she exhibited from Walberswick at the Royal Academy two still life paintings. Frances was still living at Millfield Road, Walberswick in 1939, with her husband Philip, an occasional examiner. Frances Emma Alexander was of Campion Cottage, Turville Heath, Henley-on-Thames when she died at Watlingham & District Hospital on 18 February 1960, aged 84.
