ALEXANDER, Frances Emma

1875 - 1960

As Frances Emma Bryan, she was born at Hampstead, London on 8 November 1875. In 1881, a 6 year old boarder student at 6 Tresta Street, Toxteth Park, Liverpool, the home of Thomas Phillips, a shipwright, and his family. She married at Hampstead in 1898, Philip Frederick Alexander and in 1901 living at 28 Church Row, Hampstead with her 36 year old husband, a schoolmaster. In 1911, living at Far End, Mill Field Road, Walberswick, Suffolk with her husband, an artist in metal, and their two children Margaret 8, born Hampstead and Catharine Whalley 6 [Alexander q.v.], born Mundesley, Norfolk. Frances exhibited from Walberswick at the Royal Academy in 1913 and was still living at Millfield Road, Walberswick in 1939, with her husband Philip, an occasional examiner. Of Campion Cottage, Turville Heath, Henley-on-Thames when she died at Watlingham & District Hospital on 18 February 1960, aged 84.
