GOOD, John William
John William Good was born at Gillingham, Kent on 30 May 1908, son of Charles Frederick Good (25 March 1880-12 August 1966), a shipwright, and his wife, Edith Maud née James (1 September 1881-3 October 1952), who married at Gillingham in 1904. In 1911, John was a 2-year-old, living at 9 Hamilton Road, Gillingham with his parents, 31-year-old Charles, who was born at Harwich, and 29-year-old Edith, who was born at Dovercourt, both in Essex, with his elder brother, 5-year-old Charles and in 1921 they were still at 9 Hamilton Road, Gillingham with the addition of another son George, who was born in 1911. John was a member of the Rangers Art Club and an associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1954-1963 and exhibited from 37 Lattice Avenue, Ipswich in 1953, three watercolours 'Tuddenham Bridge', 'Rushmere St Andrew' and 'Looking Down Lady Street, Lavenham', in 1954 'Monks Eleigh', in 1955 'Chappel, Essex', in 1960, a watercolour 'Marsh Cottage' and finally in 1961 'The Tide Mill'. John married at Kensington, London on 18 June 1938, Doris Maude Titford (27 February 1909-7 March 1978), and they had two sons born in Ipswich, David (born 7 August 1941) who moved to Anglesey, Wales and Graham (born 20 August 1943) who was taught watercolour painting by his father and was a junior member of the Rangers Art Club and now lives in Vancouver, Canada and since retirement has taken up art full time. John William Good moved to Dawley, Shropshire in 1962, and died at Llandudno, Wales on 4 November 1991.
