ALDRED, Gertrude Sarah
Gertrude Sarah Aldred was born at Halesworth, Suffolk in 1859, daughter of William Henry Aldred (1822-29 September 1885), a merchant, and his wife Ellen Maria Pashley (31 January 1821-7 January 1898), daughter of Capt. Daniel Thompson Pashley, who married at Halesworth in 1848. In 1881, Gertrude was living at Seafield, Parade Road, Kirkley, Lowestoft with her parents, when she exhibited at the Ipswich Fine Art Club ‘Herringfleet Carr’. Gertrude married at St Margaret's Church, Lowestoft on 22 February 1883, Revd Edward Davis (1854-10 April 1928) and they lived at Chevithorne Vicarage, Tiverton, Devon where her husband was vicar for some 35 years. In 1901, Gertrude was a 42-year-old, with her 46-year-old husband and four children, Nellie Frances St John 17, Edward William 14, Dorothy Gertrude [Noon] 11 and Harold Pashley 1, all born in Devon, Harold was killed in action during the First World War in 1918. Gertrude Sarah Davis died at 1 Mount Radford Crescent, Exeter on 17 March 1931, aged 72.
