ROE, Owen
Owen Roe was born at Needham Market, Suffolk around 1806. In 1839, an engraver & copper plate printer in Upper Brook Street, Ipswich and in 1853, described as carver & letter gilder at the same address. He married at St Margaret's Church, Ipswich on 3 December 1857, Jeannetta Stanford Plees, third daughter of Revd William Plees, late vicar of Ashbocking, Suffolk. In 1861, a 52-year-old carver & gilder, at 3 [Upper] Brook Street, Ipswich with his 40-year-old wife Jeannetta, who was born at Rivenhall, Essex and his 77-year-old mother–in–law Elizabeth Plees. Listed in the Ipswich General Directory 1862–3 as a carver & gilder at Upper Brook Street but ten years later his address is noted as 30 Upper Brook Street where he was a 65-year-old retired gilder with his 55-year-old wife. In 1881, a 75-year-old retired picture dealer, at 10 Museum Street, Ipswich with his 68-year-old wife Jennetta. Owen Roe died at 10 Museum Street, Ipswich on 9 November 1884, aged 77 and his wife died at ‘Morecombe’ Henley Road, Ipswich on 8 April 1890, aged 71.
