MORFEY, Wallace Mortimer
Wallace Mortimer Morfey was born at Ipswich on 27 August 1904, son of George Alexander Morfey (2 August 1874-19 May 1954), a director of W & A J Turner, leather merchants, and his wife Katherine Mary née Mortimer (9 February 1870-24 July 1953), who married at Ipswich in 1902. In 1911, Wallace was a 6-year-old, living at 54 Foxhall Road, Ipswich with his parents, 40-year-old George and 46-year-old Katherine and his six-year-old sister Nora Mary Waller. Wallace married at Ipswich in 1933, Dorothy Fowler Ward (20 December 1907-21 February 1991) and in 1939 Wallace was living at 53 Anglesea Road, Ipswich. A director of W. & A. J. Turner, master of Sproughton Foot Beagles 1946-1953 and Mayor of Ipswich 1969/70. A member of the Ipswich Art Club from 1972 and was the author of 'Painting the Day-Thomas Churchyard' (1986). He lived at Copyhold Cottage, Kettleburgh, near Ipswich where his wife died on 21 February and Wallace died on 14 November in 1991.
