CUNDY, James Edward
As Edward James Cundy, he was born at Clapham, London on 6 September 1904, son of Walter Cundy (20 June 1873-17 September 1953), a coachman, and his wife Rachel née Seeley (1 May 1874-30 July 1960), who married in the Colchester district of Essex in 1899. In 1911, as James Edwardm, a 6-year-old scholar, living at 106 King's Avenue, Clapham Park, London with his parents, 37-year-old Walter, who was born at Polstead and 36-year-old Rachel, who was born at Hundon, both in Suffolk, with three siblings, Walter 11, Percy 10 and Florence 8, all born in London. James married at Wandsworth, London in 1934, Katherine Louise Cundy and in 1939, they were living at 179 Francis Close, New Malden, Epsom, Surrey after which they moved to 247 Tuddenham Road, Ipswich. A member of the Ipswich Art Club from 1961 until his death and exhibited from 247 Tuddenham Road, Ipswich in 1960 an oil, 'The Young Basket Maker' but does not seem to have shown again. As James Edward Cundy, he died at 247 Tuddenham Road, Ipswich on 10 January 1978.
