COBBOLD, Philip Wyndham
Philip Wyndham Cobbold was born at Holywells Park, Ipswich on 5 January 1875, son of John Patteson Cobbold (12 July 1831–10 December 1875) and his wife Adele Harriette née Dupuis who married at Eton College Chapel on 20 April 1858. Philip was educated at Eton and at Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating LL.B. in 1896. A captain in the 4th Battalion, The Suffolk (Territorial) Regiment 1914-1922. Philip married at Birling, Kent on 14 January 1901, Cecily Augusta née Nevill (1872-1958), fourth daughter of Hon. Ralph Pelham Nevill, younger son of William, 4th Earl of Abergavenny and they had four children. They lived firstly at Kesgrave Hall, near Ipswich then at Felixstowe, Suffolk before settling at Tattingstone, Ipswich. A member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1913-1945 and although listed as an exhibitor from The Lodge, Felixstowe in 1923, does not seem to have exhibited. Philip Wyndham Cobbold died at Tattingstone Place, Ipswich on 28 December 1945.
