COBBOLD, John Dupuis

1861 - 1929

John Dupuis Cobbold, was born at The Cliff, Ipswich on 11 March 1861, son of John Patteson Cobbold (1831-1875) and his wife Adele Harriette, daughter of Revd George John Dupuis, vice-provost of Eton College, who married at Eton College on 29 April 1858. Educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating B.A. in 1883. A Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant for Suffolk and High Sheriff in 1901. Mayor of Ipswich 1914-1915. He married at Cairo, Egypt on 23 April 1891, Lady Evelyn Murray (1867-1963), eldest daughter of Charles Adolphus, 7th Earl of Dunmore and they had a son and two daughters. A Life Member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1913-1928, but did not exhibit. He died at Holywells, Ipswich on 12 June 1929, his wife outlived her three children.
