SCRIVENER, John Thomas
John Thomas Scrivener was born at School House, Little Wratting, near Haverhill, Suffolk on 4 August 1907, son of William Francis Scrivener (16 September 1877-1963), a caretaker, and his wife Sarah née Turner (21 December 1880-1952), who married at Little Wratting in 1903 and in 1939 were living at 14 Broad Street, Haverhill, Suffolk. John studied at the Cambridge School of Art and went on to teach, mostly in the Midlands where he exhibited widely. He married at Haverhill on 29 July 1933, Hetty Margaret Baynes (17 September 1909-20 December 1985) and in 1939, a secondary school art teacher, living at 30 Fairway, Stafford with his wife Hetty. After military service during the Second World War, he taught at the Stafford School of Arts and Crafts. John Thomas Scrivener died at 10 Bartholomew's Lane, Sudbury, Suffolk on 8 April 1971.
