Ruth Richmond

As Ruth F. Wood, she was born at Ipswich on 4 July 1956. Ruth married at Ipswich in 1988, Timothy Stephen Richmond (born March 1958) and they had three daughters, she painted under the name of Ruth Richmond. Ruth was educated at Friends' School, Saffron Walden, Essex and studied for a diploma in interior design at Chelsea School of Art 1984-1985 and later took a foundation course at Ipswich School of Art and Design 1995-1997 followed by an honour's degree at Norwich School of Art 1997-2000, taking a master's in 2017 and has won many awards for her work. Besides painting, Ruth is also a sculptor and was Millennium Banner Exhibition winner, South Bank in 1997 and in 2000 had a Year of the Artist residency through East England Arts, working on a Suffolk landfill site and with a skip company. She has exhibited widely including at the Ipswich Art Society in 1997 'Energy' and has had exhibitions at The Playhouse, Norwich Summer Exhibition; Orwell Park School, Ipswich; Over the River, Firstsite, Colchester; Wolsey Art Gallery, Ipswich; Borders, Firstsite, Colchester; Fifty Bees, Black Arts, Frome, Somerset; Snapshot, No Format Gallery, London SE14; Colchester Art Society; Minories, Colchester; Art Gallery, Lisbon, Portugal and elsewhere. She lived at Little Dodnash Farm, Bergholt Road, Bentley, near Ipswich.
