JEFFRIES, Florence Helen
Florence Helen Jeffries was born at Woodbridge, Suffolk on 8 October 1865 and baptised on 12 November 1865, daughter of Alfred Jeffries (1831-30 January 1911), a moulding manufacturer, and his wife Caroline née Thompson (1837-1899), who married at Rendlesham, near Woodbridge on 20 August 1861. In 1881, Florence was a 15-year-old scholar, living at Thoroughfare, Woodbridge with her parents, 50-year-old Alfred and 42-year-old Caroline, with her elder brother William Alfred 18, who worked for his father. As Miss F. H. Jeffries of Clapham, she exhibited from 261 Lavender Hill, Clapham, London, at the Woodbridge Fine Art Exhibition at the Lecture Hall, Woodbridge in April 1887, three oil paintings 'Still Life', 'Don't be Greedy' and 'Portrait' and won a 'special prize'. She married at Wandsworth, London in 1887, Clement Theodore Blunden (1856-23 October 1922), a civil servant, and in 1901 she was living at 7 Hamilton Terrace, Twickenham, London with her 44-year-old husband and their four children, Edith Caroline 12, Constance Maud 10, Nellie Florence 8 and Alfred Clement 5, all born at Battersea, London. In 1939, a widow, living at 9 Park Drive, Barnes, Surrey with her unmarried daughter Constance Maud (6 October 1890-14 September 1957). Florence Helen Blunden died in Surrey in 1951.
