FROST, Florence Maud Underwood

1862 - 1952

Florence Maud Underwood Frost, was born at Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk on 17 August and baptised on 11 September 1862, daughter of Henry Frost, a builder, and his wife Harriett née Meggs, who married at Bury St Edmund's in 1846. In 1871, an 8 year old scholar, living at 5 College Street, Bury St Edmund's with her parents, 62 year old Henry and 48 year old Harriet, with three siblings, Henry George 15, Frederick Philip 14 and Walter William 10, all born at Bury St Edmund's. Florence received some of her education in Paris being awarded her 'brevet simple' from 'Commission d'Instruction Primaire' in 1881. She exhibited at the Bury St Edmunds Fine Art Society in 1882, a pencil drawing 'Cabal'. In 1901, she was still at 5 College Street, living with her widowed mother but by 1939 was living 'on own means' at Chestnuts Tan Office, Long Melford, Suffolk. Florence Maud Underwood Frost died at Mill House, 16 Clarence Road, Malvern, Worcestershire on 20 December 1952, aged 90, and is recorded on a memorial in Bury St Edmund's cemetery, she was unmarried.
