MacDONALD, Jessie
Jessie MacDonald was born at St Pancras, London on 3 September 1883, daughter of Thomas MacDonald (1846-28 July 1927), a banknote engraver, and his wife Mary C. (1845-1925), Jessie's father was the founder of the famous London firm of Thomas MacDonald & Son (Engravers) Ltd., banknote engravers. In 1901, Jessie was a 17-year-old, living at 6 Barnsbury Terrace, Islington with her parents, 52-year-old Thomas, who was born at Carlisle, Cumberland, 56-year-old Mary, who was born at Hamilton, Scotland, and sibling brother Robert 21, who was born at Islington, also a banknote engraver. In 1911, 27-year-old Jessie was living at Rose Bank, Dacre, Penrith, Cumberland with her 64-year-old mother Mary, her father was absent. In 1939, Jessie was an invalid artist, living at The Green, Monk Soham, Suffolk with Mary Stebbing Du Pontet. Jessie MacDonald died at Dartford, Kent in 1958, she was unmarried.
