GAYWOOD, Madeline Patricia [Paddy]
Madeline Patricia Gaywood was born at Romford, Essex in 1928, daughter of Charles Zachariah Eric Gatwood (29 February 1904-11 September 1986), secretary of an assistance society, and his wife Winifred Edith Gaywood, née Mann, who married at Romford in 1927 and in 1939 Madeline and her parents were living at 18 Foxgrove Lane, Felixstowe, Suffolk. Madeline married firstly at Felixstowe, Suffolk on 3 November 1951, Richard Stephen May (17 December 1902-19 March 1974), a haulage contractor, son of Paul Stanley May of Hever, Kent, and secondly at Samford, Suffolk in 1965, Derek H. J. Quinlan (1 November 1925-), a civil servant, and they lived at 1 St Georges Road, Felixstowe. Paddy, as she was known, painted a portrait, now in Felixstowe Museum, of Billy Newson of Felixstowe Ferry who operated from Old Felixstowe where a bench was placed in his memory which overlooks the estuary and the shingle bar at the mouth of the river Deben.
