ROBERTS, Frederick Fearn
Frederick Fearn Roberts was born at Haverhill, Suffolk on 10 December 1827 and baptised on 30 December 1827, son of Richard Roberts, silk manufacturer, and his wife Susannah, née Rensford, who married at St Mary, Newington, Surrey on 18 August 1813. In 1851, Frederick was a 23-year-old manager in his father's silk mill which employed over one hundred people, living at High Street, Haverhill with his parents, 63-year-old Richard and 60-year-old Susannah and his 35-year-old unmarried sibling sister Jane. Frederick married at Haverhill in 1851 and in 1881, a 53-year-old artist painter, living at 21 Glynns Place, Marylebone, London with his five children, Alice 24, Susan 18, Jessie 14, Frederick 16 and married daughter Frances Coates 29, his wife was absent, they all give their birthplace as Westminster, London. Frederick painted landscape watercolours and exhibited four works at the Royal Society of British Artists, three views in North Wales and one in Devon, from Haverhill, Suffolk. Frederick Fearn Roberts died at Marylebone, London in 1886, when his age was given incorrectly as 61.
